KeyLink Horizontal Cable Surface Post Kit

KeyLink offers two primary sizes for its surface-mounted horizontal cable posts: the 2.5 in.×2.5 in. profile and the heavier-duty 3.25 in.×3.25 in. profile. Both sizes share the same core features: they are designed to be mounted directly to the surface of a deck or patio using a welded base plate and leveling plate; they are pre-drilled for horizontal cable infill; and they are compatible with both American and Chesapeake rail kits.

KeyLink Surface posts come with Silver Fittings for Silver cable, or Black Fittings for Black Cable.

2.5" x 2.5" - 38" (Level -End, Lines, and Corner)

2.5" x 2.5" - 40" (Stair - End and Line)

The 3.25 in. post is the thicker, heavier-duty option. Its increased size provides greater structural rigidity and strength, making it ideal for longer cable runs or installations that require maximum cable tension, as the post must withstand significant pulling force. The 2.5 in. post, while fully compliant and strong, is the slimmer option, offering a more minimalist aesthetic that appeals to those who want the posts to be less visually prominent.

Regardless of the size chosen, the function of the post remains the same:

• End (Termination) Posts are the anchors where the cable begins and ends. These posts are the only type that include the necessary cable tensioning/receiving fittings pre-installed, as they handle the high tensile loads.

• Corner Posts also function as termination/anchor points for 90∘ turns and include fittings to guide and secure the cable around the corner.

• Line (Intermediate) Posts simply serve as supports in straight runs, ensuring the cable maintains proper spacing and tension to prevent sagging; therefore, they do not include any tensioning or receiving fittings.

Whether you select the 2.5 in. or the 3.25 in. profile, you will need to choose the post height that corresponds to your installation type: 38 in. for level runs and 40 in. for stair runs, with the extra 2 in. accounting for the stair angle.
