Why Choose KeyLink Horizontal Cable?

  • Uninterrupted Views: Slender, 1/8" stainless steel cables are strong and durable, yet virtually invisible, making your view the star of the show.
  • Modern, Sophisticated Design: The clean lines of the aluminum posts and rails provide a contemporary framework that complements any architectural style, from rustic to modern.
  • Premium, Low-Maintenance Durability: Built with high-quality, powder-coated aluminum posts and rails that resist rust, fading, and corrosion. The stainless steel cable infill is exceptionally strong and weather-resistant.
  • Flexible Installation Options: Choose between Base Posts (surface mount) with welded-on flanges or Fascia Posts (side mount) that attach to the side of your deck to maximize space.
  • Choice of Cable Color: Select from traditional Stainless Steel cable for a bright, classic look or Black Coated Stainless Steel cable, which is designed to be even more invisible by reducing glare.
  • Versatile Product Lines: KeyLink isn't one-size-fits-all. Choose from distinct product series to match your home's exact aesthetic.
  • Wide Range of Finishes: Get the perfect look with a selection of six standard colors, plus the option for custom finishes.

The beauty of the KeyLink Horizontal Cable system lies in how all components work in harmony to create a stunning, unique space.

  1. Post Kits (The Foundation): Surface cable post kits are available in a range of uses including: Line, Line Upgrade, End, Coroner, Stair Line, and Stair End.
  2. Rail Kits (The Cap): Deck mounted American or Chesapeake Horizontal Cable Series Rail Kits are attached to the cable deck posts, and include hardware and intermediate pickets. Intermediate pickets attach to the surface of decks or patios.
  3. Cable Infill (The View): Finally, the stainless steel cables are run through the pre-drilled holes in the posts. The specialized fittings are installed at the Termination Posts, tightened, and locked down, creating a strong, minimal barrier, utilizing either black or silver cable.

This engineered integration results in a low-maintenance, high-impact railing system that elevates the aesthetic of any deck, balcony, or porch, allowing you to fully enjoy your outdoor environment.

How to Shop for KeyLink Horizontal Cable:

Building your KeyLink Cable Railing system involves a few key steps.

Step 1: Choose Your Style & Color

  • Decide between the classic American Series or the modern Chesapeake Series.
  • Select one of the six standard color finishes for your posts and rails.

Step 2: Plan Your Layout

  • Measure the perimeter of your deck to determine your total linear footage.
  • Sketch your layout, marking locations for corners, stairs, and the end of the railing run. This will determine what types of posts you need.

Step 3: Select Your Post Mounting Style & Type

  • First, choose your installation method. This is a crucial step that defines how your railing will attach to your deck.

Base Posts (Surface Mount): These posts feature a welded flange (or base) at the bottom, designed for mounting directly on top of your deck surface, porch, or patio.

Fascia Posts (Side Mount): These posts attach to the side (the fascia) of your deck or structure. This method maximizes your usable deck space. Fascia posts require a Fascia Bracket (sold separately) for installation.

  • Next, select your posts based on your layout's needs. KeyLink posts are pre-drilled for cable and include pre-installed fittings, saving you valuable time and effort.
  • Line Posts: For straight sections.
  • Corner Posts: For 90-degree corners.
  • End Posts: For the beginning and end of your railing.
  • Stair Posts: Specially designed for stair angles.

Step 4: Choose Your Rail Kits

  • Top and bottom rails are sold in kits, typically in 6-foot or 8-foot lengths. Select the rail profile that matches your chosen series (American or Chesapeake).

Step 5: Get Your Cable & Fittings

  • You'll need spools of 1/8" 316-grade stainless steel cable. Be sure to choose your color: traditional Stainless Steel or Black Coated Stainless Steel for reduced glare and maximum invisibility.
  • While posts come with many fittings, you will also need tensioning hardware and cable-cutting tools to complete the installation.
